help create sugar skulls

How do we get more than 200 sugar skulls to give to children in October at our free Mexican Sugar Skull event in October? We make them from scratch. Join the Windsor High School MeCHA Club and volunteer your time turning sugar and water into Calaveras. Volunteers will be able to take home one Sugar Skull.
You must register in advance to participate.

View beautiful Ofrendas on the Windsor Town Green. The altar-like displays feature photos and favorite foods, drink, flowers and mementos created by Windsor families to joyfully honor friends and family now among Los Muertos - The Dead.

ALEbrijes With Artist Irma Rodriguez
$25 6 p.m.

A hands-on workshop with Santa Rosa artist Irma Rodriguez. The $25 fee includes all materials. The class is intended for adults, but artistically confident teens are welcome. Rodriguez will teach workshop participants to create a traditional Dia de los Muertos photo or picture frame in authentic Alebrijes style. The bright, multicolored painted animal and spirit figurines are a specialty of Oaxaca, Mexico, where Rodriguez' family originated.

Children's Sugar Skull Workshop
FREE- 6:30 p.m.


The popular Children's Sugar Skull Workshop is back! This time, outdoors on the Windsor Town Green starting at 6 p.m. Children will receive one free sugar skull, and we will have sequins and icing on hand for decorating. 350 Sugar Skulls given out as long as supplies last. Food & Snack vendors will also be on the Green.

Free Movie Screening: Disney's "Coco"
7:15 p.m.

Enjoy a free outdoor screening of the Disney movie "Coco." The family-friendly classic is a multicultural hit centered around the traditions of Latin America's Dia de los Muertos holiday.

Screening is free; snacks will be for sale.

Back, live and better than ever! Annual Día de los Muertos Celebration on the Windsor Town Green. Check out the Lowrider Car Show on Market Street, enjoy food and drink vendors, craft and art vendors, face painting and music.


Performances include Luther Burbank Center's Mariachi Ensemble and Ballet Folklorico Jazmin. A key element of Dia de los Muertos Windsor, the traditional indiginous blessing ceremony and dance by Danza Xantotl at dusk, followed by an (electric) candlelight procession around the green led by the dancers, is also back this year.

You don't have to be Latinx to enjoy Windsor's Dia de los Muertos events. All are welcome at this family-friendly celebration honoring past generations.
